When it comes to Maryland portrait photography for weddings, one of the most important questions for many people is about photo printing rights. It makes sense that a bride would like to print her portraits later on, or that the mother may want to reprint photos for others who want a copy. The problem is, the photos are a creative work of the photographer and not all photographers are willing or able to give people these rights. It is a good idea for you to learn what stipulations and requirements are in place before you choose to work with any provider.

Why Printing Rights Matter

The printing rights to any professional work are up to the creator of that work. Though it is your picture in the photograph, the provider still has the right to limit or restrict the use of the photo for any reason. This is always one of the first questions that people ask photographers and you should, too. If you are getting married, for example, you should know what printing rights you have or do not have with your paid-for portraits.

Here are a few things to keep in mind regarding Maryland portrait photography.

Many photographers will provide specific guidelines to you within the contract that state how and when you can use photographs even after you purchase them.

Most of the information you need regarding photograph rights is included in your contract. Read that contract before you agree to work with the provider.

In some cases, the photographer will agree to allow buyers, who are the subjects of the photos, to purchase the printing rights to the photos, for an additional fee or as part of the package. If this is something important to you, be sure that you discuss this option with your Maryland portrait photographer first.

The good news is that most photographers will be happy to print you additional copies of your portrait for a fee if you come back in, even if it is some time later. Ask your provider if this is a possibility.

When it comes to choosing a photographer, many things make a difference. You want a qualified provider who can create the unique images important to you. You want a Maryland portrait photography studio you can trust to do a great job. You also want fair pricing, numerous product options and you want to know you are with a trusted provider.

Erin Ellen does a fantastic job of taking away your stress for any portrait event you are planning. Contact this Maryland portrait photography provider to find out about printing rights, or to schedule a consultation. Find out how special your day can be when you use the right photographer to do the job for you. You may just fall in love with what she has to offer to you.

An Annapolis portrait photographer can do a fantastic job with your wedding photos, but you can help him or her by knowing a few poses that you’d like to incorporate in the shoot. While a good photographer will guide you, it can help you to get better shots if you do a bit of preparation prior to actually coming in for your photos or begin posing on your wedding day. The professionals at Erin Ellen Photography have the skills and the know how to help you to turn a basic photograph into a stellar finished product, and you can help.

Creativity is perhaps the most important thing when it comes to photographs. Keeping this in mind, remember that you do get to make decisions and offer opinions on the poses you create. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and to get involved in the process.

Be yourself. The worst thing that you can do in front of a camera is to create a posed, statue like appearance that does not lend itself to who you are. The key is to be yourself, no matter how shy or outrageous you are. Let your personality come through.

An honest smile is important. In short, you want the expression of the person in the shot to come through. If you are surprised, anxious, happy or sentimental, show those emotions. The best Annapolis portrait photographer will ensure that they capture those moments of intense emotion in the photos since those are authentic responses and feelings you want to keep hold of.

Pick a location that really works for you or that says something about you. If you met at the library, shoot the photos there. If you are both teachers, a classroom setting would be a cute idea. The key is to choose locations that truly represent you or the style and image you wish to present. Make the locations you pick meaningful to create the perfect look and feel.

Lighting is also important. A quality Annapolis portrait photographer will work hard to ensure lighting is right. Trust their decisions about lighting, for example telling you that the picture would come out better in natural light rather than in a studio. Be sure to voice your opinion, but give the expert the chance to make great decisions for your photos.

As you consider the many things you want your wedding photos to look like, remember to keep things as natural as possible. This will create the ideal finished product for you and for your memories. Remember that an Annapolis portrait photographer is working for you, thus you can provide ideas and information that you believe to be helpful. On the other hand, do allow the experts to help guide you when it comes to posing styles, locations and even smiles. Companies such as Erin Ellen Photography work hard to ensure that your finished pictures are exactly what you wanted, or perhaps a bit more than that. You should be impressed with your final results.

Maryland Portrait Photographers’ Tips for Bridal Portraits

Maryland portrait photographers can take what could be standard and traditional bridal portraits and make them magical. One of the most important things that a professional photographer can do for a bride on her wedding day is to capture emotion. If you imagine a wedding day, from the early morning preparations to the last moments of the reception, you can probably think of a range of emotion that the bride will be going through, such as excitement, nervousness, giddiness, and happiness. Capturing those emotional moments in photo is what is going to make the biggest difference in your memories of the whirlwind day. The good news is that Erin Ellen Photography in Annapolis, Maryland can help you to capture those intimate moments in perfect form.

The right Maryland portrait photographers can truly help you to change the way that you are planning to be photographed on this special day. While those intimate captures of people and emotions are important, sometimes it is all about the setting and the surroundings. Consider these tips to help you to get the best bridal portraits.

• Have a few shots done in black and white. The contrast is amazing. The look can be nothing short of breathtaking. With the right light, this can capture the essence of what is truly magical about your wedding day.

• Getting ready is another one of those must-have shots. When you work with a trusted provider and photographer you can remain confident that you will look amazing in these shots.

• In some situations, it may be best to try some creative lighting, too. Imagine a silhouette of the bride, in front of a large window, seeming to be daydreaming about her big day and her new life.

• How about the location? Thinking outside the box with your location may make the portrait more unique and memorable. Maybe next to a fence, or on a rooftop with a view, sitting in a café, or maybe in the arch of a doorway.

• Natural light is another interesting and simple way to frame a photo. The photographer is able to capture unique features and intricate details with this type of lighting.

• These are just a few examples of what a qualified Maryland portrait photographer can create for you. You can choose a look that is all your own. You can be as creative as you would like, or as formal and traditional as fits your needs. On the other hand, you may just want to hire a professional who can help you to create that magical moment for you. The right creative person can really make all the difference here.

Consider all of the options available to you for your bridal portraits. Realize that the options for bridal portraits really are up to you. Choose the look and feel that works for you, or allow your experienced Maryland portrait photographers handle this special photo session for you. Erin Ellen Photography specializes in creating these beautiful images that capture emotion, in a creative and beautiful way. Make a wise choice for your wedding day.

Being a MD portrait photographer I often get to travel to areas I normally wouldn’t travel. The Mongers live not too far from Annapolis in their beautiful home with their new baby boy. We found a few wonderful spots upstairs flooded with light in the hallways and master bedroom. Part of what makes my job so fun and challenging is discovering these little nooks in locations I’ve never been to before.

My favorite image from the shoot. This shot was taken towards the end of the shoot. He was tuckered out and ready for a nap. Being just 5 weeks old I wonder how far he can actually see. He looks completely engaged with the camera but he’s probably responding to the sugar water we just dosed him with ;). A wonderful trick to get newborns to calm down and act alert.

Details…

The Mongers are beautiful people inside and out, obviously. It made for an easy shoot. They allowed me to be creative and were very wiling to try whatever I wanted.

Just the boys.Mommy’s love.

Choosing Your Annapolis Wedding Photographer Can Be a Breeze – Here’s How!

Selecting the right Annapolis wedding photographer is one of the most important things you will do while planning your wedding. With so many options to choose from, it can be stressful to know what to ask and how to choose. The process can be easy to do, if you know a few tips and tricks that can help you to make this otherwise tough decision. The more you know about these professionals, the more comfortable you can feel in this situation. The key is to focus on a trusted professional to be your Annapolis wedding photographer and Erin Ellen Photography could be the right choice for you.

So what does it take to find the right photographer for your wedding? It starts with knowing what to look for in an Annapolis wedding photographer in the first place. The following tips can help you with this process.

Ask about referrals. You want to know that the professional has been successful in the past with weddings in particular. This is the only way to know what the photographer is capable of producing. You may even want to look at some of the photos and shots from previous weddings. This helps you to see the creativity and uniqueness available from that professional.

Schedule a phone interview with the professional. You want to gather some important information initially before you spend too much time. Find out if the photographer is available on your wedding day and find out what areas of specialty the photographer offers. Just a phone call can clue you in on the professional attitude and creativity of this professional.

Next, schedule a formal interview with the Annapolis wedding photographer and ask questions. Here are a few to help get you started in the right direction.

-What are the costs of various types of wedding photo coverage? For example, what packages are offered and what is included?
-What type of photographer are you? Are you a traditional photographer or one that is more of a photojournalist?
-What do you focus on in weddings? What do you do to capture the true value of a wedding?
-Will you be shooting the wedding yourself? If the photographer answers no to this, schedule a meeting with the photographer that will do your event. This is critical since it is, by far, the most important element in the finished album.
-Are there assistants to help you to get all of the pictures we need and want?
-Are there limitations on how many photographs you will take or on the number of locations you will travel to in order to shoot the event?
-What is the payment policy?

The more information you have about the Annapolis wedding photographer, the more likely you are to find someone you can trust. Remember, this person’s job must be done properly. If he or she does a poor job, there is no way to replace those photographs. For this reason, invest in a trusted, professional, and experienced photographer such as Erin Ellen Photography. You will not be let down by a professional with this level of experience and care about your wedding.

I – Insightful. Although I never know what he is thinking. He always looks at you with deep, penetrating eyes as though he has an intense understanding of complex situations.

T – Tolerable. He’s the type of dog you can role around, squeeze as hard as you want, poke, shove and love till it hurts and he won’t do anything. Honestly, it’s kinda weird.

C – Cunning. He once single handedly escaped his locked crate. The door remained locked and untouched. We don’t know?

H – Honorable. This beagle holds an untarnished reputation for being loving, devoted and peaceful. Integrity is his middle name!

E – Expandable. He’s capable of eating large amounts in one sitting with little effect other then his enlarged stomach. Remarkable.

L -Lovable. Completely lovable.

L – Lazy. Really, really Lazy

For the past 6 1/2 months he’s taken the back seat while I’ve stolen the show with my progressing baby bump. He’s made my journey in becoming a first time Mommy so special and has given me center stage the whole time. I’m so excited to give back to him and show my love and appreciation.

David, you make this world a brighter place!

A Portrait of Myself

New Zealand 2003

When people ask me, “what do you do?” or “what is your profession?”, I always answer “I’m a professional photographer”. The next question, which immediately follows is, “how long have you been a photographer?” or “did you always want to be a photographer?”. “Well, about 8 years and No”, I reply. I wish I could say I came into this world with nothing but my birthday suit and a camera but that wouldn’t be true. In fact, not at all. What I did know was that I always had a passion for the arts and I was constantly pursuing creative outlets. It wasn’t until college that I discovered the camera. It was like finding a way to communicate and connect with the world. For the first time I had found a tool to soothe this obnoxious tick to express myself. Photography has opened many, many doors for me and I’d like to share my first Self Portrait.

So, I’m thorwin back to 2003, my junior year in college. I was fortunate enough to travel to New Zealand for a mini-mester, study abroad. The class: Location Photography. Rock on, right?! Anyway, I had learned on a film camera. Yep! That’s right, film! I’ve had to scan all of my photos and negatives into digital files so that may reflect the quality of my images. Excuse me for that.

Here I am. Our first assignment was to hike to the top of this mountain, find a quiet area and take a self portrait. I set my camera on my trusty tripod and set the exposure and then the timer. 1, 2, 3, 4….Click.

I’ve selected a few more pictures to talk about.

While scanning through my photographs I tried to select some that showed a strong connection between us and our environment. “Us” meaning 20 camera happy art students roaming around the country side of New Zealand. For 5 weeks we were herded up and down mountains and if you know anything about New Zealand then you would know that it wouldn’t be long until you came across a happy congregation of sheep. We would stop and stare, take a picture and they would stare right back. Exciting! Well, it was at the time.

Not only were there sheep watching your every move but if you would come down from the hills and walk about a forest or everyday foliage you would soon come across the plant Koru. Koru is a budding silver fern symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. A very prominent symbol of New Zealand.

Southward we went! More hiking. More shooting.

We’re now amongst the many glaciers of NZ. I’ve often been asked if these bodies of water were really this color and yes, they were and are. I did use a polarizing filter on my lens to cut the glare (a piece of photography equipment that attaches to your lens and acts like sunglasses).

One more of my favorites.

For those Lord of the Rings Buffs I’ve included a few for you as well. Towards the end of our trip we courageously attempted a 12 hour hike through Middle Earth. We hiked past and through a few locations where the movies were filmed.

We did not hike up that particular mountain but we did trek up a comparable one. Once at the top we were presented with a huge clearing that stretched completely across to the other side which could temporarily be seen between passing clouds. If you look closely you can see a few classmates.

While crossing I snapped a shot of two of my friends. Don’t worry, there were markers along that way that we followed and we eventually made it across.

Before I end this post I wanted to add one more of my favorite landscapes.

I started with a self portrait so I wanted to end with one.

Thanks for viewing!

Happy Thursday,

Erin
